about me
Welcome to Cut Paper Island
At Cut Paper Island, art isn’t just for display—it’s made to be part of your everyday life. Created by Robin Nagle, a Kansas City Art Institute graduate and year-round resident of Martha’s Vineyard for over 20 years, each design reflects a love of nature, a playful sense of humor, and an eye for detail.
Robin’s creative process begins with simple pencil sketches, capturing the charm and personality of her subjects—often inspired by animals and the beauty of island life. From there, she carefully refines each image using an X-Acto knife, cutting bold, minimal shapes from a thoughtfully selected palette of paper. These hand-cut designs are then brought to life on functional items that people can use and enjoy every day.
Cut Paper Island’s distinctive artwork can be found on flour sack towels, cards, coasters, zip pouches, and tote bags—turning ordinary objects into little works of art with purpose. Whether it’s a whimsical animal illustration or a design that brings a smile, each piece carries the warmth and character of Robin’s creative spirit.
When Robin isn’t in her studio, she loves exploring the natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard—sailing, walking the island’s many trails, or enjoying the beach with her husband, son, and their dog, Hadley. Her connection to the island and its landscapes continues to inspire her work, making each design a celebration of simple joys, thoughtful craftsmanship, and everyday art.
